"A Month of Sundays" presentations are cosponsored by the Shalom Center for Justice and Peace and the Church and Society Commission of Central United Methodist Church in Lansing. All programs will be held in the church library, and admission is free.

Sunday, March 4: 2-3:30 p.m., Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol
A Month of Sundays Conversation with David Wiley:
Africa and the United States: A Past and a More Just Future
David Wiley is professor of sociology and director of the African Studies Center at Michigan State University.  He has authored numerous volumes on Africa and has held leadership positions with a variety of national and international organizations and committees including the national African Studies Association and the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO among others.

A Month of Sundays Conversation with Rev. Bob Roth:
The United Nations and the United Methodist Church in 2007: Justice and Peace Call Us to Work Together
A strong proponent of the United Nations, the Rev. Bob Roth has been a United Methodist delegate to the Non-Governmental Organizations Conference at the U.N. in 2004 and 2005.  He will speak and facilitate group conversation on Biblical, theolgoical, and political grounding for the involvement of people of faith in issues such as nuclear arms, global poverty, the U.S. role in the world. Bob will also bring materials for participants to share with their churches and a statement from the Rev. Levi Bautista, the permanent United Methodist delegate to the U.N.

A Month of Sundays Conversation on the War in Iraq: Iraq War: Justice and Lasting Peace

This conversation will be facilitated by leaders of the Board of Church and Society of the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church.

A Month of Sundays Conversation with Ada and David Kidd: Issues of Environmental Justice

Ada and David Kidd are passionate environmental and justice activists.  Among her advocacy activities, Ada writes the column "Earthwatch" for the Michigan Christian Advocate and is a member of the Board of the Michigan Interfaith Power and Light. David is a retired pastor who has served churches in Flint, Detroit, and Ypsilanti and campus ministries in Flint and at Wayne State University. In 2006, Dave and Ada Kidd were both recognized with the Jesse and Anamary DeWitt Peace with Justice Award for their advocacy and teaching on peace, justice and the environment.
